The current product direction uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect Liora jewellery to a phone. It is designed for devices that send small amounts of data with limited power use.
From button to app
When the user performs a configured button action, electronics in the pendant register the input. Bluetooth can send a signal to the app, after which the phone uses GPS, internet and notifications.
The jewellery does not independently determine location and has no mobile connection of its own.
Range is contextual
The phone, body position, walls, other radio signals, antenna design and metal enclosure all affect range. One range figure without test context would be misleading.
Functional prototypes therefore need realistic wear and use testing.
Energy and connection
Connection interval, transmit power, firmware and reconnection behaviour affect battery use. Around seven days is currently a development target, not a validated specification.
Only measurements with representative hardware can support a realistic published battery figure.
