Why Liora does not want to be a smartwatch

A smartwatch combines messages, calendars, exercise and notifications on one screen. That is not Liora's purpose.

One clear task

Liora is being developed as supplementary personal safety technology. The current direction combines one physical button, Bluetooth and limited LED feedback. The phone performs complex tasks such as location and communication.

This division keeps the interaction focused. The pendant does not need to become a miniature phone.

Form and energy

A display needs space, protection and power. Without one, the enclosure can remain compact and the design can feel more like jewellery. GPS and mobile internet also remain on the paired phone.

This means Liora depends on a working phone connection. That dependency must be visible in the app and tested as part of technical validation.

Quiet by design

Liora should stay in the background until the user activates a configured action. New features are evaluated not only on what is technically possible, but on whether they make the core experience clearer and more reliable.

The final design may change. The direction remains consistent: no extra screen, but a discreet tool that fits what you already wear.
